Pre Season Testing at Silverstone and Donington Park

David Houghton and Graham Rowan have been testing their new cars at a very wet Silverstone and at Donington Park. Graham who is 6ft 2" tall and no Twiggy managed to fit into the car and at Donnington he went two seconds faster than his previous best time in his Shrike. David Houghton managed to finish both days with the car in one piece which is perhaps the greater achievement of the two!! Sorry David but I couldn't resist that one and now you will be all fired up for the next race.

Robin Simpson is running both cars and we will be liasing with him to make sure any positive moves we make with the car will lead to a lock out of the podium for Van Diemen in the UK series. Nik Johnsons championship winning car is being driven by its new owner Mike Turner and although he has only driven a few laps in it to date he says that he feels the car is good and he just needs to get to grips with it as it is so stiff compared to his previous Shrike.

Nik Johnson has been out with his car at Silverstone and Donnington, several changes have been tried and he will be running different spring rates and Quantum Dampers this year. Pat Murphy of Quantum has been advising on set-up and will monitor progress as the season progresses. The Quantum damper appears to be more responsive and Nik thinks he is getting the power down out of corners much better. Silverstone was busy and he only managed to get into the 102s. He only managed 5 laps at Donnington before the water pump fell apart but he posted a lap in the seventeen's with worn tyres,and 25 litres of fuel so the car looks as though it is on the pace for this coming season and we will see how much progress the opposition has made.
